STOP PRESS! - DHA tenants look at Tenants Page for important information from the New Tenants Services Authority.

An innovative plan to provide more affordable homes has been agreed between South Hams District Council and Dartington Housing Association.

The council is developing a pilot project with the housing association to buy five properties in the district and let them out at around 20 per cent less than the equivalent market rent.

The homes purchased from the private market and brought up to the Association's letting standard, will be let directly to people on the Council's housing register. To see if you are elligible to be considered for this scheme, please contact Michelle Smith on 01803 863550.

South Hams District Council will contribute (£10,000 as an equity loan) per property as part of the joint funding package with Dartington Housing.  To date the Association has purchased 5 homes in Totnes and Ivybridge with plans to purchase more in Dartmouth and Kingsbridge.

WE NEED YOU!

Dartington Housing Association is a small community based organisation, providing housing and other related services to communities mainly within the South Hams.  We rely on local people  within our area of operation to become shareholders and to become Board Members on a voluntary basis.  We are particularly looking for new members who have skills or experience in the following areas:  Finance, Building and Development, Legal or experience of services for older people.

It is important to recruit new shareholders and Board Members to ensure the organisation remains independent  and  is influenced by local people.  Please give Steve Prime a ring for an informal chat  about what becoming a shareholder or Board Member entails on 01803 847591.
